Laura Summerauer is working as a scientist in the Soil Resources group at ETH Zurich. She is studying soil fertility and carbon dynamics on agricultural and eroding landscapes along the Albertine Rift in Eastern Africa. During her research, she became a specialist for soil infrared spectroscopy and supra-regional and established a soil spectral library for central Africa with the aim to minimize expensive wet chemistry analyses. Moreover, she has conducted multiple field campaigns in the Democratic Republic of Congo and in Uganda where she worked together with smallholder farmers and later focused on soil sampling and coring using a percussion drilling equipment. Laura will share her experience as leader of the Soil Spectroscopy Workshop II.
